About The Ambassador Program:
Launched in 2021 with an inaugural cohort of 27 young women, the Ambassador Program has grown into a powerful pipeline for the next generation of nature storytellers. By 2025, the program welcomed 41 ambitious and visionary mentees, and in just five years, through direct and indirect mentorship, has supported 167 emerging photographers, filmmakers, scientists, conservationists, and, above all, storytellers.
But the impact goes far beyond the numbers. Each year, the Ambassador community strengthens its internal leadership, cultivating confidence, collaboration, and a culture of mentorship. Our long-term vision is to ensure participants not only build technical and artistic skills, but also feel deeply empowered to lead, mentor others, and shape the future of their fields.
Nature is brilliantly diverse, and the voices telling its stories must be too. The Ambassador Program was created to address the lack of gender diversity in nature photography and storytelling, a field historically dominated by men. Girls Who Click seeks out and supports young female and female-identified+ artists who are ready to take their work to the next level. We are committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible program that uplifts participants across cultures, socio-economic backgrounds, sexual orientations, and gender identities, because the future of nature storytelling depends on who gets to tell the story.
Program Outline:
The Girls Who Click Ambassador Program is intended for young photographers/videographers ages of 16 to 30. We aim to uplift these young photographers through mentorships with professional female nature photographers who want to embrace the next generation. Girls Who Click will pair each young photographer with a mentor with whom she will have virtual meetings to develop her portfolio, gain key insights on breaking into the industry, and cultivate a network of supportive individuals in the photography industry. The photographer or videographer will come out of the program equipped with a strong community, and the knowledge necessary to enter the professional industry. The program also includes other benefits as listed below:
- A 9-month mentorship with a GWC Partner Photographer.
- Opportunity to apply to be a Continuing GWC Ambassador for subsequent years.
- Access to all GWC’s workshops (in person or online).
- The opportunity to be highlighted and elevated on all GWC’s platforms.
- International peer network
