Katie Garey

My name is Katie Garey, and I’m a documentary filmmaker passionate about using visual storytelling to spark environmental awareness and action. I studied Film & Media Studies and Environmental Studies at the University of Kansas, where I focused on film as a tool for advocacy and connection. Though based in Kansas, my work has taken me from filming endangered mountain gorillas in Rwanda to documenting conservation efforts across Southern Africa. Closer to home, I created Land Freed, a documentary on land revival in Kansas City. I’m driven by a belief that thoughtful, compelling film can help inspire care for the natural world.
