Introduction to Wildlife Photography and Storytelling with Gunjan Menon

Calling Vancouver-based 13 to 18-year-old girls who are nature enthusiasts! Join Conservation Filmmaker and National Geographic Explorer Gunjan Menon for a FREE outdoor storytelling workshop. Learn the basics of nature and wildlife photography, and practice your new skills on local wildlife. Spend time outdoors with professional wildlife filmmakers and discover what it takes to be a conservation storyteller. Bring your own cameras or smartphones, or borrow ours for the workshop! BIPOC female-identifying or non-binary participants are encouraged to apply.

Gunjan Menon is an Indian Producer-Director and the founder of the impact-first production house Beyond Premieres. Her films focus on human-wildlife coexistence and conflict mitigation, featuring some of the earth’s most endangered and lesser-known species. Over the last decade, she has been recognised with over 50 awards & nominations across 40 cities worldwide. Her work has been broadcast on National Geographic, Disney+, PBS, BBC Earth, Discovery, Animal Planet, and Roundglass Sustain, among others.

This workshop is on August 11th, 2024 at from 9:00AM-2PM PST in Stanley Park (specific location sent after sign-up) and in partnership with Beyond Premieres.


Special bird walk with Wildlife ecologist and Founder of BC Young Birders Program, Melissa Hafting and a feedback and Q&A session about careers in conservation with Gunjan, Melissa and forest conservationist Paula Sarigumba.

This workshop is for girls and female-identified or non-binary youth ages 13-18. We do make age exceptions for motivated students. This workshop is free.

Please remember to have a parent/guardian to fill out the liability waiver, the COVID-19 waiver, and the Photo Release form. If a participant is over 18, please fill out the form yourself.
