Photographer – Danielle Carstens

Danielle is a born and bred South African with an inherent love for wildlife and wild places. Growing up, she spent most of her free time in the African bush, observing the finer details of species’ behaviour which, coupled with her passion for photography, lead her to the world of wildlife photography. She is a full-time wildlife photographer and photographic instructor in Botswana, working for Pangolin Photo Safaris and leading photo tours throughout Botswana.

She aims to teach not only the technical side of photography but also to deeply appreciate the subject by truly getting to know it first. Prior to relocating to Botswana, Danielle served as regional chairperson for Wildlife and Environmental Society of South Africa, where she was involved in fundraising for K9 antipoaching units – successfully deploying tracker dogs in both Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve as well as the Kruger National Park.

She loves water – being in or on water and enjoys long-distance swimming as well as cycling. Being out in the wild, far removed from civilization, is where she is most content.
