Erin Ranney is a freelance wildlife camerawoman who has filmed for the BBC, PBS, Smithsonian and National Geographic nature documentaries. She has a Bachelors in Wildlife Ecology and Masters in Wildlife Documentary Production. She fell in love with cameras during a job as a field technician in Madagascar studying lemur populations and brought the photos back to her mom’s classroom. When every book on Madagascar and lemurs was checked out after her presentation, she realized the power of imagery for wildlife conservation and storytelling.
With a diverse background in her work experience, she thrives in remote and challenging environments, even taking six months to go explore remote areas of Alaska and the bears that lived there for a personal project. She has been excited to keep kids interested in nature. She has presented deep sea exploration from her job as a video engineer aboard the EV Nautilus by video chatting from the ship to schools, has been a naturalist and guide leading school trips for Orca Adventure lodge in Alaska and spent time volunteering as a Special Olympics basketball coach.
