Advisory Board. Celina Chien is a conservationist, photojournalist and intersectional environmentalist giving a voice to wildlife in the age of the Anthropocene. She uses her photography to provoke change by inspiring love for nature, exposing the ongoing assault on the natural world and communicating solutions for a sustainable future.
As a woman of colour with a multicultural and multilingual background, Celina wants to diversify our perceptions and approaches toward environmental issues by advocating for inclusivity, intersectionality and youth empowerment in the conservation community. Celina’s work has taken her across the globe’s tropical regions, documenting issues spanning from the challenges facing endangered biodiversity in ever-shrinking habitats to the illegal wildlife trade.
Celina is the youngest member of Panthera’s Conservation Council, she is also a Youth Council member of the Reserva Youth Land Trust, a partner of the Rainforest Trust endeavouring to create the world’s first entirely youth-funded nature reserve in Ecuador’s Choco rainforest. Celina is currently nominated in National Geographic’s Second Assistant Program and a contributor to the @EverydayExtinction collaborative, a member of the @Everyday Projects bringing awareness to the 6th mass extinction and global biodiversity crisis. Alongside her photojournalism, Celina completed a BSc in Biological Sciences from Imperial College London and is now doing an MRes in Tropical Forest Ecology at Imperial College London.
